Spring is upon us!

Which means as the seasons change, so do the demands and pressures on our bodies and lives.

We’re on the home stretch until it’s Christmas time again and we get the chance to catch up on some much-needed rest and recuperation.

Until then, we need to stay vigilant and keep on top of our energy reserves and adjustments to coming out of winter into the warmer seasons ahead.

The powers that be are suggesting another drier Spring/Summer season which means less chances of floods and more chances of fires…. but that also affects our bodies too.

Skin…. Our largest organ and first line of defence against the fluctuating elements around us!

In TCM this part of the body is governed by the Lung and Large Intestine channels or Metal element, what does that mean?  well, it means several things, but for starters it’s a great segue into Sinusitis and all things hay fever and Spring sniffles.

Fun fact: the Large Intestine meridian finishes right above the nasal sinus channels on the face and can be influenced by palpating the meridian down these pathways, through the neck zone and onto the arms to provide relief and pressure release of consolidating lactic acids in the facia.

Tension headaches are common at this time of year too, Senior high schoolers are readying for final exams, and as the weather warms up, folks tend to not keep up with their fluid intake and can give the opportunity for the collaterals of the body’s other meridians to run dry and give way to painful side effects.

Furthermore, as this metal element is challenged by the seasonal demand and taxation on the sinus’s, the next element in line (the Water element – Kidney/Bladder) becomes deficient.  Kidney Qi Deficiency is the lead cause for developing adrenal fatigue issues and can possibly manifest into more chronic issues if left unresolved.

With all this in mind, it’s never been a better time to check in with your natural health practitioner/s and make sure that you’re in a mindful state of awareness for your body’s health and wellness and keep in good stead for the warmer energy draining months ahead.
