Most recently Susan has completed the Foundation of Oncology Massage qualification. The experience Susan gained in the health industry has enabled her to understand how complex health conditions can be and believes that there is a very strong mind and body connection and approaches every treatment holistically, with that in mind. Her goal is to achieve overall balance within the body which will naturally positively affect the dysfunction that the client is presenting with.
She has a particular interest in spinal pain/injury as she sustained a spinal injury in her early 20s in which she is now fully recovered. However, going through that experience and seeking out allied and complementary therapies to assist in that recovery has driven her passion within the healing industry, knowing how wonderful and effective manual therapy can be as a modality when treating acute and chronic pain. She looks forward to welcoming you into the clinic for a massage treatment.

This expertise extends to the traditional Hawaiian art of Lomi Lomi massage where long flowing strokes and rhythmic movements release tension leading to a restorative health experience. Each treatment becomes an opportunity of a unique blend of relaxation rejuvenation and balance.

Dave Somers – Chinese Massage (Tui Na)
Qualifications:
Diploma in TCM / Remedial Massage, First Aid & CPR
Techniques:
Acupressure; Trigger Point; Chinese Massage
Passion:
T.C.M. (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is a broad spectrum of services available to anyone who wishes to take their holistic health to the next level. As an umbrella scope that includes well known modalities like Acupuncture and Cupping, it is also a health system that focuses on helping the body to achieve harmony and balance on a physical, mental and emotional level.
Dave’s primary skills are in the form of Tui Na (Chinese Massage). Using the same network of channels (Meridians) and Acupoints as Acupuncture, the process is much like trigger point or remedial massage, only with the focus on maintaining overall health and balance, not just treating the symptoms.
TCM can be applied after a brief consult and screening process including pulse and tongue readings as well as a variety of tests to ascertain the underlying cause to your ailment.
If you are familiar with general western remedial massage or physiotherapy, then you will feel the similarities with Tui Na, as the body is treated as a whole entity, not just a collection of acute symptoms.
Health funds claims are available for Bupa, Medibank, Frank and CBHS via request.

Areas of Interest:

Passion:
With more than 15 years of experience in the health industry, I’ve discovered over time that helping to make a difference in people’s lives is one of the most satisfying experiences to have as an Exercise Physiologist.
When I meet with a client, I try to keep in mind that, just like me, they are just trying to live a happy life free from difficulties and problems. I have found many times before, that by going the extra mile to provide the assistance to help them to achieve this balance, the client gets the most benefit.
