    Passion:

I’ve always loved helping others, I feel this is my life purpose. I’ve also always loved massaging,
even from when I was a child, I was always told I had “magic hands”, and still get told this today. I
love the fact that massaging can help heal people from the inside out.

I completed my Cert IV in Massage Therapy in 2009 here in Brisbane, and have gone back to
complete my Diploma in Remedial Therapy. I love learning; the body is such a complex specimen
and there’s so much to learn about it, and I love that through natural therapies, we can help the
body to heal mentally and physically.

As a mum myself, I understand the stresses the body goes through with growing another human
inside you, therefore I love pregnancy massage.  I can empathise and know how much a massage can help your body relax during this intense period. I also understand the stresses that come with raising a child, and how a little time out for yourself with a massage can help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated to continue being the most amazing parent to your little one.

  • Dave Somers
Dave Somers – Chinese Massage (Tui Na)

    Qualifications:

Diploma in TCM / Remedial Massage, First Aid & CPR

    Techniques:

    Acupressure; Trigger Point; Chinese Massage

    Passion:

T.C.M. (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is a broad spectrum of services available to anyone who wishes to take their holistic health to the next level.  As an umbrella scope that includes well known modalities like Acupuncture and Cupping, it is also a health system that focuses on helping the body to achieve harmony and balance on a physical, mental and emotional level.

Dave’s primary skills are in the form of Tui Na (Chinese Massage).  Using the same network of channels (Meridians) and Acupoints as Acupuncture, the process is much like trigger point or remedial massage, only with the focus on maintaining overall health and balance, not just treating the symptoms.

TCM can be applied  after a brief consult and screening process including  pulse and tongue readings as well as a variety of tests to ascertain the underlying cause to your ailment.

If you are familiar with general western remedial massage or physiotherapy, then you will feel the similarities with Tui Na, as the body is treated as a whole entity, not just a collection of acute symptoms.

Health funds claims are available for Bupa, Medibank, NiB and CBHS via request.

With more than 15 years of experience in the health industry, I’ve discovered over time that helping to make a difference in people’s lives is one of the most satisfying experiences to have as an Exercise Physiologist.

When I meet with a client, I try to keep in mind that, just like me, they are just trying to live a happy life free from difficulties and problems.  I have found many times before, that by going the extra mile to provide the assistance to help them to achieve this balance, the client gets the most benefit.
