Winter Beauty Tips
Winter is here, and that means changes for our skin, as the temperature drops and there is less humidity in the air. During winter your skin retains less moisture because of the cooler, dry air as well as the use of heaters indoors. This can lead to our skin feeling noticeably dry and itchy as well as flare ups of eczema and dermatitis.
It is important to treat our skin correctly by making some minor adjustments to your skin care routine, to keep our skin nourished and well hydrated throughout autumn and winter.
You can do this with 3 simple steps.
- Exfoliate. Most of us forget to exfoliate at the best of times, however if there is a time to remember to incorporate exfoliating into your skincare routine, it is now. In the cooler months our normal skin shedding process slows down, resulting in our skin becoming dull and dry. Exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells also allows for your moisturiser to penetrate easier
- Moisturise. Keeping your skin well nourished and hydrated with a heavier cleanser and moisturiser will provide your skin with extra nourishment and protection. Also don’t forget about the rest of your body, using an all over body moisturiser on your arms and legs.
- Protect. Though the sun isn’t as harsh after the long hot summer that we have had, those UV rays are still damaging. Sunscreen is our best form of anti aging, so remember to apply SPF to your face, neck, arms and chest without fail daily.
