Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a complex metabolic and endocrine (hormonal) disorder. As a leading cause of infertility it affects up to 20% of women. Diagnosis includes an ultrasound scan of ‘polycystic’ ovaries (ovaries with multiple fluid filled sacs) however, only approximately 40% of women with PCOS have polycystic ovaries.
